Formed in 1959 as [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/3382145-Linda-The-Del-Rios]The Del-Rios[/url] as backing vocal group for [a=Linda Steele (2)]. After disbanding they renamed [a=Chubby And The Turnpikes]. Four Cape Verdean - American brothers, born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, they would later move to New Bedford, Massachusetts. They were signed to [l=Capitol Records] in 1967 and released three singles. In the 1970s, they renamed the group Tavares and had a No.1 R'n'B hit with their cover of [a=Daryl Hall & John Oates]' [url=http://www.discogs.com/Tavares-Shes-Gone/release/4164892]"She's Gone"[/url] in 1974.
